Abstract

Moringa oleifera and Piper betle are a type of woody plant that grows wild in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Moringa oleifera and Piper betle have long been used as ingredients in traditional medicine because they contain bioactive compounds that have many pharmacological benefits. Many studies have examined the antimicrobial activity of Moringa oleifera and Piper betle plant parts such as seeds, flowers, leaves, bark, stems and roots. Moringa oleifera and Piper betle have antimicrobial activity such as antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antiparasitic. This review describes the content of phytochemicals profile and the antibacterial activity of Moringa oleifera and Piper betle against Escherichia coli.
