Abstract

Mosquitoes are a type of insect that is a vector of diseases in humans such as dengue fever which is transmitted by Aedes aegypti and filariasis which is transmitted by Culex sp. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of extracts of yellow bamboo leaves (Bambusa vulgaris) on the mortality of Aedes aegypti and Culex sp larvae. The concentration of the extract in this study was carried out with 6 concentration treatments, namely 50 mg/L, 60 mg/L, 70 mg/L, 80 mg/L, 90 mg/L and 0 mg/L as a control group with repetition of each group, namely 4 repetitions. Observations were made every 12 hours for 24 hours. Extracts with concentrations of 90 mg/L, 80 mg/L and 70 mg/L against Aedes aegypti larvae had an average mortality percentage of 100% with an LC50 value for a period of 12 hours of 16.897 ppm, while in a 24-hour period of 15,086 ppm. Tests on larvae of Culex sp extract with concentrations of 90 mg/L, 80 mg/L and 70 mg/L also had an average mortality percentage of 100% with an LC50 value of 17,269 ppm for 12 hours, while for a period of 24 hours of 16.133 ppm
