Abstract

The intertidal zone is the area between the highest and lowest tides. The area of the intertidal zone is very limited but has varied environmental factors, so it has a fairly high diversity of organisms and ecosystems. One of the organisms that live in this zone is the Phylum Echinoderms, members of the Class Echinoidea or commonly called sea urchins. Malang Regency has a large natural wealth, especially in the coastal area. South Malang Beach has its own uniqueness and most of the beaches are still natural, one of which is Watu Leter Beach. Research on Echinoderms, especially Echinoidea, is very minimal, so further research needs to be done. Based on the important role and lack of research on Echinoidea (sea urchins) on the environment and other organisms, it is necessary to conduct further research on the diversity of Echinoidea (sea urchins) in the intertidal zone in the Watu Leter Beach area.
