Abstract

Water is a necessary material in everyday life. In fact, the water sources used by many people are still murky and contaminated with Coliform bacteria. An alternative that can be done to reduce coliform contamination is to use a natural medium of banana skin powder and cassava skin. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of banana skin powder and cassava for total Coliform on the digging well water "X'. The study used laboratory experimental methods with well water samples before and after being given banana skin powder and cassava skin with concentrations of 5%.10% and 15%. The method used in the Total Coliform test is the MPN method. Data obtained from the total coliform test results is then tested descriptively. In the total Coliform test using banana skin powder, the most effective results were (concentration 5%) the average MPN is obtained 4.1/100ml while the use of cassava skin powder shows an average MPN of 0/100ml on each treatment.
