Chemical insecticide, environmentally friendly, yellow rice stem borerAbstract
This study was conducted to determine the effect of the use of chemical insecticides and vegetable insecticides in controlling the yellow rice stem borer (Scirpophaga incertulas). Insecticide application was carried out using the spray method. Chemical insecticides used are Dursban, Fipronil, Coragen and Spinosal. While the vegetable insecticide used is from the neem plant. Fipronil showed maximum damage reduction of 56.28% followed by neem extract of 38.33% at a concentration of 15 ml/L. The disadvantage of the chemical insecticide fipronil is that it can reduce the natural enemies of the yellow rice stem borer due to residual effects. Meanwhile, neem extract can be considered as an effective plant for controlling yellow rice stem borer because it is more environmentally friendly than fipronil.
